Royal Siblings! First Photo of Prince George and His Baby Sister Princess Charlotte

Adorable Anglophile Alert! Kensington Palace has just released the first photo of Prince George and his newborn baby sister, Princess Charlotte and it’s about 100 on the “cute meter!”

Royal Siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte

Royal Siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte

The photo was taken in mid-May by their mummy, Catherine The Duchess of Cambridge herself! How she got a near 24-month old to sit still while holding a newborn, I shall never know…but the results are TOO adorable!

The kiss heard around the world!

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in London on May 2, 2015 and since then royal mum and dad, Catherine and Prince William have been bombarded with loads of cards and gifts for the newborn!

A Tweet from Kensington Palace thanked everyone for their wonderful messages.

We know there are more memorable royal baby moments on the horizon as  The Duke and recently announced that the christening of Princess Charlotte will take place on Sunday 5th July at St Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham. The princess will be christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

We wish the Cambridge family all the best in health and happiness and we look forward to all the lovely moments they’ll be sharing with us in the future.

Thank you Kensington Palace for sharing this beautiful photo!

Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne Join NBC’s Red Nose Day Spectacular!

Many of our favorite British artists have signed on to help welcome in the FIRST Red Nose Day in the USA!  Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Sir Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom are just a few of the British stars lined up to join a list of Hollywood elite including Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore for NBC’S ENTERTAINMENT SPECTACULAR ‘RED NOSE DAY’ ON MAY 21!

“Red Nose Day,” a three-hour live entertainment event airing Thursday, May 21 (8-11 p.m. ET) on NBC promises great entertainment while raising money and changing lives for 12 charity organizations assisting to lift children and young people out of poverty, in the U.S. and throughout the world.

The star-studded event for charity will also feature “Game of Thrones” cast members Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emilia Clarke, Iwan Rheon, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Mark Addy, John Bradley, Rose Leslie, Alfie Allen and Charlotte Hope.  “Orange is the New Black” cast Dascha Polanco, Samira Wiley, Yael Stone, Selenis Leyva, Lea DeLaria, Adrienne C. Moore and Jackie Cruz will also be part of the fun-raising special.

We all love Red Nose Day in the UK which has brought us some of the most entertaining moments with our favorite British artists.  Here are some of our faves:

Dawn French recreates her beloved character from Vicar of Dibley with Damian Lewis as special guest:

A classic RND sketch with Mr. Bean attending a wedding where Matthew Macfadyen is the groom!

And NO Red Nose Day would be the same without an appearance by the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, who has given us some of the most memorable RND moments but here David shines a light on exactly what the purpose of RND is. Visiting a Ugandan hospital, David is shocked to discover that the life-threatening conditions like malaria, suffered by most of the children there, are easily preventable.

RND US has raised  more than $1 billion over the last 30 years so it’s quite exciting to see ‘Red Nose Day’ coming to America for the first time and to see how we can spread this great message and support this worthy cause!

As a fun way to get us ALL involved in Red Nose Day, Walgreens and Duane Reade stores nationwide will be selling red noses. Buy yours and then share your photos with The Anglophile Channel and we’ll feature them on our website and social media pages!  You can also think of organizing fundraising events and watching and donating during the television special. For more information, please go to www.rednosedayusa.com.

Richard Curtis (Four Weddings, Love Actually) is an executive producer for the NBC telecast (a Universal Television production), along with Hamish Hamilton and Ian Stewart of Done + Dusted Productions. Henrietta Conrad and Lily Sobhani will also serve as executive producers, as will Mike Farah, Anna Wenger and Joe Farrell from Funny or Die. Hamilton is set to direct.

The Duchess of Cambridge in Labor at St. Mary’s Hospital London [LIVE STREAM]

Anglophile Alert! The GREAT Kate Wait is nearly over! Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labor with her second child!  She was driven to St. Mary’s Hospital at 06:00AM London by car, accompanied by Prince William. She was admitted into the Lindo Wing where it was confirmed her labor was progressing along normally.

A LIVE feed outside of the Lindo Wing has been set up for those of us Anglophiles that have to catch every breaking moment the nano-second that it happens:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-baby/11534516/Royal-baby-watch-live-stream-from-outside-the-Lindo-Wing-hospital.html#ooid=prZGFoazpj1blEXcllueeacE7WTMkvzv

The media has already been allowed into the press pen where they will wait out the arrival of the second royal baby born to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Wasting no time...the press is already in place.

Wasting no time…the press is already in place.

The arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child will be announced in a very modern way when Kensington Palace Tweets the announcement of the birth! In addition to the contemporary approach there will also be the traditional framed proclamation that will be placed outside of Buckingham Palace.

A Royal Proclamation announcing Prince William's birth.

A Royal Proclamation announcing Prince William’s birth.

Tweeting a royal birth announcement is fairly new practice as Prince George was the first future British monarch to have news of their birth tweeted by a royal household, with @ClarenceHouse declaring “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm”. You can follow KP’s Twitter account @KensingtonRoyal.

One unforgettable moment with the birth of Prince George was when Prince William and Catherine presented their newborn son to the world’s press. What an amazing site this was. No word yet on whether or not we’ll be seeing a repeat of this scenario after the Cambridge baby is born.

How the world met Prince George.

How the world met Prince George.

Stay tuned….we will soon know whether we can welcome a new little Prince or Princess to the world!

Karen Gillan as Outlander’s Brianna Randall? Casting Thoughts…

Outlander, the popular and critically acclaimed series based on the books by Diana Gabaldon and set in bonnie 18th century Scotland….is headed into production for its second season. With millions of fans around the world still to enjoy the remaining six episodes, speculation has been swirling for months on what Season 2 will bring us and, more importantly, WHO…in terms of casting!

Last fall a casting call was put out to talent agents and managers in Hollywood looking for an actress to play the role of Brianna Randall who (and this will be a SPOILER for anyone that hasn’t read the books) is the daughter of Claire and Jamie Fraser!

Here is what the casting call looked like:

BRIANNA RANDALL (Female)  20 years old. (20-25)  General American accent. Looking for an actress who is OVER 5ft  7′.  This tall, striking, redhead (we can dye hair) is the daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) So actress must have BLUE EYES and ideally resemble the actor and actress playing her mother and father.  Strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor (traits inherited from both her mother and father), Brianna also has a scholastic mind-set, with a healthy dose of American strength, having been born and bred in Boston under the watchful eye of historian Frank Randall. The ease of a natural beauty, Brianna has the ability to turn heads wherever she goes. She also has a practical, analytical brain so she should be played earthy and grounded and not girly.

Hmm, sound like anyone we Whovians know? Sounds like no-brainer casting to me.

When fans heard that the role of Brianna Fraser was being cast (besides sending in their own head shots and resumes…) they began tossing around ideas and suggestions, and one name that continually came to the forefront was former Doctor Who companion, Karen Gillan.

The perfect Brianna Randall?

The perfect Brianna Randall?

She certainly fits the description and hailing from Inverness Scotland, she certainly has it in her blood.  We would all love to see her back on our television sets, especially after her ABC sitcom Selfie was cancelled.

Gillan's ill-fated sit com didn't make it to Season Two.

Gillan’s ill-fated sit com didn’t make it to Season Two.

Whether or not she’s available is another question. Gillan recently completed a film starring John Travolta, “In A Valley of Violence” and has recently been cast in a new HBO pilot about the Salem Witch Trials, “The Devil You Know” which is/was set to go before the cameras this Spring.

And it’s not like our beloved Amy Pond wouldn’t have competition for the role. Here’s a pretty respectable audition video from one Brianna hopeful:

There’s also bonnie Bonnie Wright, Ron Weasley’s sister in the Harry Potter films, now all grown up and beautiful and ready to star in Outlander!

Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Wright

Still speculation abounds over Karen Gillan…

Today, months after the casting notice went out…with still no announcement from Starz on new cast members joining the show…Gillan Tweeted this:

Squee! Outlander fans who are supporting the idea of Gilllan as Brianna are elated at the possibility!! Of course, this Tweet could simply mean she’s going home to visit family. One thing is for sure, Karen is one busy and in demand actress…so whether or not Starz was quick to snatch her up shall remain to be seen.

Who do YOU think should play Brianna Fraser in season two of Outlander? Put your comments below!

Catch Outlander Ep. 111, “The Devil’s Mark” tonight on Starz at 9PM PT/ET. And IMMEDIATELY following, catch our recap, OutlandDish©! To catch you up, here’s last week’s recap of “By The Pricking of My Thumbs”:

Outlander Preview “The Devil’s Mark” [VIDEO]

Last week’s thrilling episode of Outlander, “By The Pricking of My Thumbs”, foretold of something ‘wicked this way comes’….the end of the episode had Claire and Geillis being arrested for witchcraft! With Jamie nowhere in sight (maybe he was giving his tongue a break!)…but Eerie Laoghaire in lurking in the shadows, the girls were carted off in chains….

Episode #111: “The Devil’s Mark”

The crowds have gathered around the thieves hole, and it is time for the accused to take the stand! Claire and Geillis have been arrested for witchcraft and due in court this week. What will  happen to the girls? Will their ”consigliere” Ned Gowan get them off? Will Jamie arrive back in time to help Claire? (More important…do they allow conjugal visits in an 18th century prison?) Will there be a burning at the stake??

Tune in for one of the most anticipated episodes this season…until next week’s most anticipated episode that is…where secrets and lies are finally revealed and big decisions are made!

Geillis and Claire are on trial for witchcraft! Which I believe because Claire definitely has Jamie under her spell!

Geillis and Claire are on trail for witchcraft!

Geillis and Claire are on trail for witchcraft!

Will their “Consigliere” Ned Gowan get them off? Good thing Claire shared that bonding poetic moment with him by the river…

We hope their "consigliere" Ned Gowan can get them off!

We hope their “consigliere” Ned Gowan can get them off!

Geillis is fighting for her life…and for the life of her love child with the very virile Dougal Mackenzie!

Geillis is pleading for her life!

Geillis is pleading for her life!

Will Claire ever make it back to the standing stones at Craig na Dun? To be honest…after that Good Morning Breakfast Special from Jamie…I thinks he’s thrown away the map.

Will Claire ever make it back to the stones at Craig na Dun?

Will Claire ever make it back to the stones at Craig na Dun?

But if she DOES make it back…what will she decide? Will she stay? Or will she go back to boring sex with Frank?

Outlander 2014

And if she does…what will she chose to do? Stay? Say goodbye?

The look in Claire’s eyes tell it all. The agony of her decision…

Her eyes show the conflict in the decision she has to make...

Her eyes show the conflict in the decision she has to make…

Be sure to WATCH Outlander premiering Saturday April 18th at 9PM ET/PT (Although our Starz gets it at 6PM…and you can watch it over and over and over again. Because, you KNOW you want to!)

The Downton Dish Reacts To Downton Abbey News with Marlise Boland and Elyse Ashton

The Downton Dish has weighed in with their reaction over yesterday’s shocking news that Downton Abbey will end it’s immensely successful run after Season 6.

The Dish ladies, Marlise Boland and Elyse Ashton, do not seem to be taking it too well….

DowntonDishNEWPromo

The Downton Dish, a successful web-chat-series dedicated to Downton Abbey has received positive feedback from fans who have enjoyed the “Dish” hosts and their crazy antics over 9 episodes covering all of Downton Abbey Season 5.  Fun locations such as visits to Rose Tree Cottage and the historic Queen Mary, plus interviews with Downton Abbey notables Julian Fellowes, Allen Leech, Tom Cullen have set Downton Dish apart from any other recap show online…or indeed on television.

Although Boland has joked that Downton Dish must end it’s run after Season 2, both hosts are incredibly sad to have to say goodbye to their favorite British aristocrats and their loyal servants.

Downton Abbey to End After Season 6….Say It Isn’t So!

Carnival Films and ITV announce that Season 6 is to be the FINAL season for our beloved Downton Abbey!

What EVER are we going to do on Sunday nights without our weekly visit with the Crawley family and their loyal servants? They have become like our dear old friends these past many years. We’ve been invited into their lives, their bedrooms and shared their secrets, their heartbreaks…their lively dinner conversations! We have rooted for them, cried with them…and now we are to bid them all goodbye with this upcoming final season? Say it isn’t so! (Insert the Downton Dish’s Elyse Ashton‘s “Nooooo!)

DAGoodbye

Downton Abbey saying goodbye after six brilliant seasons!

We can’t even imagine not hearing Maggie Smith‘s Dowager Countess’s quick quips, or watching “Poor Edith” navigate her way through life, or wonder endlessly over which suitor Lady Mary is going to toss aside, but Carnival and ITV have made it official, ending months of speculation and nagging questions by journalists wanting to know “WHEN the end will come…” Now we have our answer…I wish we didn’t, but there’s no point in going into denial over it. Downton Abbey will end with Season 6…which means, The Downton Dish will end after Season 2. 😦 Quick, someone get us a set visit!
DowntonDishNEWPromo

In a statement released by ITV, Carnival Managing Director and Executive Producer of Downton Abbey, and TAC favorite, Gareth Neame said, “Millions of people around the world have followed the journey of the Crawley family and those who serve them for the last five years. Inevitably there  comes  a  time  when  all shows should end and Downton is no exception. We wanted to close  the  doors  of Downton Abbey when it felt right and natural for the storylines to come together and when the show was still being enjoyed so much by its fans.  We can promise a final season full of all the usual drama and intrigue, but with the added excitement of discovering how and where they all end up…”
And just how WILL they all end up? What do we hope to see happen for our favorite British aristocrats and our downstairs pals?  Happiness for Lady Edith? A child for the Bates? Ten more lovers strewn aside by Lady Mary? A Downton wedding for Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes? A final comeuppance for Barrow? Yes! All of it!
Happy ending for Mr. Carson and Mrs Hughes!

Happy ending for Mr. Carson and Mrs Hughes!

Julian Fellowes, writer, creator and Executive Producer of Downton Abbey, one of the UK’s biggest ever drama exports said,  “The Downton journey has been amazing for everyone aboard.  People ask if we knew what was going to happen when we started to make the first series and the answer is that, of course we had no idea.  Exactly why the series had such an impact and reached so many people around the world, all nationalities, all ages, all types, I cannot begin to explain.  But I do know how grateful we are to have been allowed this unique experience. I suspect the show will always be a principal marker in most of our careers as we set out from here, and if so, I consider that a blessing and a compliment.”

Downton Abbey is the highest rating UK drama of the past decade across any channel, with an average of 11 million viewers over the course of the five series, including Christmas specials.

ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham said,

“When Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame brought us the idea for Downton Abbey six years ago we thought it would be a great Sunday night series for ITV, but we had no way of knowing that it would become a global phenomenon playing to hundreds of millions of viewers around the world. What a ride it’s been!  Christmas Day on ITV this year will certainly be one to remember, as the concluding special brings a series to an end that started as a leap of faith for all of us, and ended surpassing all expectations.”
So we ALL know to gather around our television sets on Christmas Day (I’m flying to the UK for the occasion, by the way, as there is NO way I’m waiting for Masterpiece to air the finale here MONTHS later….) for an incredibly emotional goodbye.
Hmm, how can Downton Abbey bring back Matthew Crawley from the dead? It's the ONLY way we envision Lady Mary finding happiness!

Hmm, how can Downton Abbey bring back Matthew Crawley from the dead? It’s the ONLY way we envision Lady Mary finding happiness!

Downton Abbey is the most nominated British show in Emmy® history with 51 nominations to date with Golden  Globes®Screen Actors Guild Awards, Producers Guild of America Award, BAFTA and National Television Awards counted amongst their wins! Bravo!
And so, let the countdown to final Downton Day begin. We anxiously await to see what the pen of Julian Fellowes shall create for us fans to devour. Whatever it is, we know it will be incredibly satisfying, yet bittersweet.  Interestingly, Neame said in a phone conference this morning that they would not rule out the possibility of a Downton Abbey movie release!  “We would be very interested in that,” he said. “[A movie is] definitely something we’re contemplating, it would be great fun to do.”  Exciting indeed, but lets just hope they don’t leave ANY story lines dangling….
