An Evening of Wicked Fun

A Tribute to Stephen Schwartz

By Juliette Boland

May 19, 2019 – Beverly Hills

It was a dream come true for this musical theatre nerd as I was invited to attend “An Evening of Wicked Fun: A Tribute to Stephen Schwartz” where I was honored to interview Wicked star and Tony Award-winner, Idina Menzel and Wicked/Smash star Meghan Hilty – just a few of the Broadway legends who gathered to pay tribute to Oscar-winning composer-lyricist, Stephen Schwartz at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.  This exciting night was filled with theatre’s finest including original Pippin star, John Rubinstein, Pippin Tony winner Andrea Martin, Tony nominee Liz Callaway, and opera singer Angel Blue and Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award-winning songwriters of  Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, and The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.

Proceeds from the night went to support the artistic, education, and outreach programs of The Wallis. Honorary co-chairs were Wallis Annenberg, Alan Menken, and Julie and Marc Platt. Event co-chairs are John Bendheim and Cathy Louchheim.
