OUR SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH JANE AUSTEN DESCENDANT
CAROLINE JANE KNIGHT
Filmed on location at Chawton House, Chawton England
JANE AUSTEN’S FIFTH GREAT NIECE, CAROLINE JANE KNIGHT, HOSTS “DINE LIKE JANE” AT FAMILY ANCESTRAL HOME CHAWTON HOUSE!
To kick off Jane Austen Regency Week in Chawton, England, Jane Austen’s fifth great-niece Caroline Jane Knight hosted an exclusive dining experience, DINE LIKE JANE, at the family ancestral home of Chawton House. Diners who traveled in from as far away as Australia and the United States, donned their Regency finery and were wined and dined the Austen way. The Regency-inspired dinner featured a menu using recipes from the Knight family’s 18th century cookbook. Each dish was inspired by food eaten by Jane Austen herself and dishes she mentioned in her letters.
The exclusive group of 14 guests sat at the same table and ate from the same china as Jane Austen. Surely enough to set any Janeite’s heart aflutter. Ms. Knight worked tirelessly on the menu perfecting each detail in every dish to make it as authentic as possible. The end result was pure Austentatious perfection!

The Anglophile Channel was thrilled to be amongst the very first to hear excerpts from Susaannah Harker’s new Jane Austen-inspired play, “Jane and Cassandra” starring Ms. Harker and her sister, Nelly. We had the opportunity to chat with Ms. Harker at Chawton House about the play, about playing Jane Bennet and her favorite Mr. Darcy! Interview coming soon!
