Tom Hiddleston To Take On King Kong in ‘Skull Island’

As if his IMDB page doesn’t already list enough projects in various stages of production, Tom Hiddleston has just added yet another to the growing list: Legendary Entertainment‘s “Skull Island” a film based on the origins of King King.

Someone has a date with King Kong!

Someone has a date with King Kong!

Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) is set direct to the feature film, with a script written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla). The story will focus on the iconic ape’s roots and the mysterious island from which he originates…something previous films have barely touched on…which means its not likely we’ll see an NYC-Fay Wray moment with everyone’s favorite gorilla.

King Kong captures Fay Wray in 1933 classic.

With Guillermo del Toro‘s “Crimson Peak” already in the can, and Hiddleston prepping his inner cowboy to take on country music legend Hank Williams in the biopic “I Saw The Light”…not to mentioned a rumored outing in leg baring toga as Ben Hur….it looks like Hiddles’ dance card is filling up!  I’m sure he’s not complaining. And neither are we!

Universal Pictures is set to distribute Skull Island in November 2016.

William and Kate Expecting Second Child!

The world is on Royal Baby Watch again! Clarence House has just confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second child!

And soon there will be four!

And soon there will be four!

The Royal Baby Announcement was as follows:

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.

The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess of Cambridge is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.”

Kate was hospitalized early in her first pregnancy because of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which can cause severe nausea, vomiting and dehydration. Here’s hoping she doesn’t suffer for too long this time around or that this does not prevent her from accompanying William on their planned trip to Malta later this month.

The new baby will be fourth in line for the throne behind Prince George, who turned one on July 22. This moves Prince Harry further down the line of succession…but as the former “royal spare” I’m sure Uncle Harry will have much advice to dispense!

British Prime Minister, David Cameron was the first to congratulate the couple on their happy news when he Tweeted, “Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.” and we shall add our congratulations to the thousands that are pouring in from all over the world, CONGRATULATIONS TO WILLIAM, KATE AND BABY GEORGE!!

Now, prepare the Lindo Wing and let Royal Baby Watch “Part Deux” begin!

The Doctor Meets Robin Hood in Episode 3 of Doctor Who [PICTURES]

The TARDIS takes the Doctor to Sherwood Forest in this week’s episode of Doctor Who…but not without a bit of Sci-Fi still thrown in as the episode is, after all, called “Robot of Sherwood” and features the writing talents of Mark Gatiss in his first script of the season. Because…you know, he doesn’t have enough going on (Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Being Brilliant…)

Doctor Who Meets Robin Hood!

Doctor Who Meets Robin Hood!

“In a sun-dappled Sherwood forest, the Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars and strikes up an unlikely alliance with Robin Hood. With all of Nottingham at stake, the Doctor must decide who is real and who is fake. Can impossible heroes really exist?”

No such thing as Robin Hood!

No such thing as Robin Hood!

The Doctor does not believe in Robin Hood as he declares, “No damsels in distress, no pretty castles…no such thing as Robin Hood!”…but Clara begs to differ in this sneak peek from Episode 3:

The Robin Hood episode features Tom Riley as Robin Hood, Ben Miller as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin’s merry band of robots.

Robin Hood with a Sci-Fi twist of course!

Robin Hood with a Sci-Fi twist of course!

Jenna Coleman gets to channel her inner “Maid Marian”….Oliva de Havilland never had it this good!

Olivia de Havilland never had it this good!

Clara enjoys a bit of target practice with Robin of the Hood!

The one person Clara always wanted to meet was Robin Hood and now The Doctor has made that possible for her…however begrudgingly. I think Clara is Fangirling here:

But who wouldn’t fangirl over Tom Riley as Robin Hood?

Men In Tights! Tight, tights!

Men In Tights! Tight, tights!

And she gets to don these gorgeously sexy Maid Marian frocks!

Jenna Coleman definitely rocking the Maid Marian look!

Jenna Coleman rocking a Maid Marian look!

The sonic screwdriver in the Sheriff of Nottingham’s hands could prove to be a dangerous combination!

I wonder what this thing does??

I wonder what this thing does??

I can already tell I’m going to LOVE this episode! I always do, anytime they take a leap back in time.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s The Imitation Game To Have World Premiere At Telluride

Well the Cumberbabe is certainly keeping me on my toes these days as there seems to be news about him (or his award wins and nominations) sprouting up every day! The latest is that the Telluride Film Festival just released it’s lineup and it was announced that The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch will be enjoying it’s World Premiere at the film fest which begins on August 29.

World Premiere announced for Telluride Film Festival

World Premiere announced for Telluride Film Festival

Imitation Game is a biopic on Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

Films that premiere at Telluride have a history of going on to win the Best Picture Oscar as is exampled by last year’s Academy Award winning, 12 Years a Slave was and previous year’s winner ArgoThat could mean more photo-bombing for Cumberbatch come Oscar time…along with, if Hollywood buzz is correct, an Academy Award nomination!

It's the CumberBomb

The film Co-stars Keira Knightley and is directed by Morten Tyldum with a screenplay by Graham Moore, based on the biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges. Imitation Game is scheduled for a November release.

Benedict Cumberbatch Checks Out Progress On His Statue At Madame Tussauds

The Cumberbabe decided to pop into Madame Tussauds in London to check on the progress of his wax statue….which is looking pretty darn good if you ask me.

A good likeness!

A good likeness!

According to Tussauds, the head is first sculpted perfectly in clay and Benedict recently attended a sitting to inspect progress and ensure a perfect likeness is achieved.

Profile like a Roman God.

Senior Principal Sculptor, Louis Wiltshire, is seen here working on a perfect clay likeness which is then used to create the mold for the final figure in wax.

I want this guy's job...

I want this guy’s job…

The Cumberbabe listens to his iPod to keep his mind occupied while attending his second sitting for the wax work. I wonder what he’s listening to?

What's on your iPod?

What’s on your iPod?

Tussauds said they were inundated with requests for the incredibly popular actor who recently won an Emmy Award for his starring role in Sherlock and will next appear in The Imitation Game with Keira Knightley.

Can't improve perfection...

You can’t mess with perfection!

I'll take two please!

The Crucible Back Onstage Tonight!

After an unexpected cancellation of last night’s performance of The Crucible starring Richard Armitage at The Old Vic Theatre in London, due to an unforeseen electrical issue…we are happy to report the cast is back on tonight!

The theatre apologised profusely for this unfortunate event and even Armitage…whose soul-shattering performance as John Proctor is what has been luring fans to the theatre on a nightly basis…took it upon himself to meet disappointed audience members and personally apologise to them in person. What a class act! I don’t know about you…but that must have been worth the price of admission alone!

The theatre has promised to issue refunds to all affected ticket holders. Hopefully those theatre-goers can try their luck at the ‘returns’ line as the show is pretty much sold out through the end of its run on September 13th.

In the meantime here’s little something that is sure to put a smile on your faces.  It’s my favorite picture from The Crucible showing Armitage as Proctor in one of the most powerful moment’s I’ve ever witnessed on stage. If this performance doesn’t win an Olivier…I’m handing in my Equity card!

RACrucibleGREAT

CUMBERBATCH WINS! Sherlock ROCKS The Emmys as Steven Moffat Promises A “Devastating” Season 4!

They’ve called it a “cult favorite” for so long that there seemed to be a hush over the industry crowd at last night’s Emmy Awards Ceremony anytime a win was announced for the BBC/PBS hit series, Sherlock…that would be three for those of you keeping count…including what many thought was an “upset” in the Lead Actor category which went to Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch. To be honest, I think the upset is that it’s taken the Emmy voters this long to wake up and realize what they’ve had in this show! Cumberbatch beat out a crowd of heavy-hitters including Fargo‘s Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, The Normal Heart‘s Mark Ruffalo, Luther‘s Idris Elba and Dancing On the Edge‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor. A prestigious group indeed…but nothing to be upset about as this recognition was much deserved and a long time coming!

Not going home empty handed was Cumberbatch’s co-star, Freeman, who was honored in the Best Supporting Actor category for his multi-layered portrayal of Sherlock sidekick John Watson.

A big night at the Emmys for Team Sherlock!

A big night at the Emmys for Team Sherlock!

Fresh off a record seven “shocking and surprising” wins, Co-Creator/Writer Steven Moffat had some very exciting news backstage, for fans of the super sleuthing series…but not before conveying how delighted he was at not only winning four awards at the Creative Emmys but his utter shock at the three major wins for himself, Cumberbatch and Freeman. He was certain that, after two years, 17 nominations and no-wins…their time had passed.  “We’ve  won outside of America and we thought that phase was dying down,” Moffat said. “As shows get older, they don’t win as often. We’re delighted that we’ve made it here and hopefully this will get more people watching the show.”

Get people watching? They’ll be chomping at the bit!  Especially after the tease he gave last night, when Moffat promised that Sherlock Season 4 will not only top Season 3 (a hard feat to be sure)…but will be “devastating”!! In fact, he added, “it is so devastating that our cast was reduced to tears.” when he told them their plan.

Oh no, oh no, oh no! Now I’m crying! Somebody dies, I just know it!

"Devastating" Sherlock season up ahead.

“Devastating” Sherlock season up ahead.

Moffat said that he and Co-creator Mark Gatiss are very excited about what they have coming up. Calling themselves, “a couple of fanboys.” (I knew I loved them for a reason…they’re fan geeks too!)  However, nailing down Cumberbatch and Freeman’s very busy schedules is “quite tricky…It’s like corralling everyone in a cocktail party.  We have to pitch (them) every year. But, we know what’s happening with Sherlock is unusual, so we’ll keep making Sherlock as long as it’s a good show.” Good show? It’s a great show!  All I need to hear is the opening strains of the Sherlock theme music and I get all tingly inside!

Moffat revealed that Series 4 could go before the cameras as early as January, right about the same time that he’ll be working on Doctor Who, with the first episode airing as a Christmas special in 2015. SO far away!

So a great night was had by all and I imagine everyone at Team Sherlock is celebrating in the UK today.  Steven said “We came out to LA thinking we would take nothing home but the memory of a great night. To have won seven Emmys in total is something none of us will ever forget.”

Congratulations Team Sherlock!

Congratulations Team Sherlock!

Well, it is well deserved Mr. Moffat and Mr. Gatiss as you have given us a show that we will ever forget…and now with all these Emmy wins I’m certain the rest of the world will be jumping on the Sherlock band wagon….which I’m not sure I’m all that pleased with as I’m feeling very territorial about my ‘cult show’. Still, I shall have my deerstalker cap in hand and ready to go come Christmas 2015!

Congratulations to the whole creative team at Sherlock!

Richard Armitage #Ice Bucket Challenge at The Crucible Stage Door

Well Lady Anglophile has been all aflutter since Richard Armitage heard the call of The Anglophile Channel‘s Ice Bucket Challenge, stepping up to the plate with his own tribute no less than 24 hours later!

And it wasn’t just ANY ‘ol day that Mr. Armitage made his contribution to the global awareness campaign for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)….it was his birthday!

So, after another sweat-inducing (for actor and fans alike) performance as John Proctor in The Crucible at The Old Vic Theatre in London, Armitage got cleaned up and changed (into a nice 3-piece Burberry suit, I might add!) and came around back to the stage door…where nightly a queue wraps around the building of fans awaiting the opportunity to meet and say hello to the actor who has just bewitched them for nearly 4 hours…and every night this gracious, dedicated actor spends whatever time it takes to make his way down the line of enthusiastic well wishers, signing autographs and posing for photos…until no fans remain. I’m not sure who else does that…but it’s impressive.

On this particular night, however, the stage door attendees were rewarded for their own dedication and patience as they got to witness Armitage taking his turn at the Ice Bucket Challenge!

First mentioning his challenger The Anglophile Channel’s Marlise Boland…

And then his chosen charities: ALS, The Anthony Nolan Trust and Young Minds….he then sat down with great poise, taking in a deep breath (because we ALL know how he feels about being immersed in water…) and took it like the true English gentleman that he is. (We heard a bit of a shudder but then who wouldn’t in given London’s current temps.) Fans cheered and applauded a job well done!

For a good cause...and not just because we love him in a wet shirt...

For a good cause…and not just because we love him in a wet shirt…

And then…Armitage turned around, wet suit and all…and met and greeted each of his admirers till no one remianed. Then…hopefully…the man got to go home and put his feet up or at least enjoy a nice birthday glass of Pinot Noir!

Happy Birthday Mr. Armitage and Thank You for bringing global awareness to ALS!
