After an unexpected cancellation of last night’s performance of The Crucible starring Richard Armitage at The Old Vic Theatre in London, due to an unforeseen electrical issue…we are happy to report the cast is back on tonight!
The theatre apologised profusely for this unfortunate event and even Armitage…whose soul-shattering performance as John Proctor is what has been luring fans to the theatre on a nightly basis…took it upon himself to meet disappointed audience members and personally apologise to them in person. What a class act! I don’t know about you…but that must have been worth the price of admission alone!
The theatre has promised to issue refunds to all affected ticket holders. Hopefully those theatre-goers can try their luck at the ‘returns’ line as the show is pretty much sold out through the end of its run on September 13th.
In the meantime here’s little something that is sure to put a smile on your faces. It’s my favorite picture from The Crucible showing Armitage as Proctor in one of the most powerful moment’s I’ve ever witnessed on stage. If this performance doesn’t win an Olivier…I’m handing in my Equity card!

Yes, Richard keeps proving over and over what a gentleman he is. No one would have blamed him for not coming out when the play was cancelled but that just wouldn’t have been Richard’s style. Fans support him and therefore he supports and respects them as well so he had to come out and talk with them even in the rain. One of many reasons we love him.
