Sir Anthony Hopkins is to appear opposite his fellow knight Sir Ian McKellen in a new BBC version of Sir Ronald Harwood’s The Dresser!
The Telegraph revealed today that BBC has pulled off a real ‘casting coup’ as they snagged two of Britain’s most illustrious thespians to appear in new film production of Sir Ronald Harwood’s “The Dresser”. According to The Telegraph, McKellen will play “the camp dresser to Hopkins’s domineering actor-manager, who is known only as “Sir”. Harwood is said to have based the play on his own experience as a dresser to Sir Donald Wolfit.
“This is our emphatic answer to all those people who say that the BBC is no longer interested in serious drama,” a source told the publication. “The negotiatons between the key players have taken some time, but now it’s a done deal. We are absolutely thrilled.”
BBC has not yet confirmed the casting announcement.
